JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam has topped the final test before the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike series gets under way over easter.
The Derby rider was a second over the Donington Park lap record despite a baltic track temperature of ten degrees and finished wth a 1’29.902, 1.179s ahead of reigning champion Shane Byrne with Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Glenn Irwin in third.
Byrne set a 1’31.081 to head Irwin by 0.003s with series rookie and former Moto2 rider Gino Rea continuing his Cartagena form, setting a 1’31.771 for fourth place.
Haslam’s team-mate Luke Mossey was fifth on a 1’31.589 with Christian Iddon sixth, Michael Laverty seventh, Josh Brookes eighth, James Ellison ninth and Tommy Bridewell tenth.
