Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran is relishing his return from injury to the MCE British Superbike Championship, and after a successful test at Silverstone and today at Donington the Australian is growing in confidence.
O’Halloran missed the final six rounds of the BSB series last year after breaking his femur, and bones in his left hand at Thruxton, but now he is back to full fitness and was pleased he was able to get into the top five fastest times during the final test session at Donington this afternoon.
“I am feeling really good and I have had a good pre-season going into the first race next weekend,” said O’Halloran, speaking to Bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
“Spain went really well and we had Silverstone a few days ago and Donington today and we are really pleased where we finished. I think we have got a pretty good setting.”
After a successful Silverstone test his crew did not change much on his Honda, and with a 1’29.932 it placed him joint fourth on the sheets, and he lapped exactly the same time as Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey. It hasn’t taken O’Halloran long to get back his form after his long absence from the paddock, and he is ‘in a good place’ to start the British Superbike season next week.
O’Halloran added:” We left Silverstone and came here and we didn’t change that much, just a few little tweaks and I felt pretty good. Last year I had a pretty bad time here and to finish up [joint] fourth today I am really pleased. It gives us a lot of confidence going in to next weekend.
“It is nice to be back inside the top five group - sort of where I was before I got hurt last year so it hasn’t taken us too much time to get back there. I think we are in a good place to start the season, and I cant wait to get started and see how we go.”
