Donington BSB: 'Three crashes not ideal' for title fighter O'Halloran

Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran crashed in the opening MCE British Superbike free practice session, and then twice at Goddards in the final outing at Donington Park.

The Australian is in the Showdown for the first time, but his team have figured out what the issue was during the crashes, and they have eliminated that it was partly to do with the tyre, as the first crash was on the harder compound and the FP2 incidences were on the softer tyres.

Also the title challenger found the setting on the Fireblade was slightly too hard for the Leicestershire track. O’Halloran and his crew kept a similar set-up from the last round at Oulton, but found they needed to make it softer for Donington Park.

“Goddards not my friend at all. Three crashes in one day so not ideal, two of them in exactly the same place so we have got a bit of work to do tonight for tomorrow,” said O’Halloran, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“We sort of know what the issue is. The first crash was on the hard tyre and the second crash on the soft tyre, so we eliminated that it was the tyre, so that’s good.

“So the setting is a bit hard from Oulton Park. We came here with exactly the same setting because I was happy and comfortable with it so we need to soften it off for Donington Park.

“So, it is a small change for tomorrow but I think it will make me a bit more comfortable. The lap time we did today was OK, we are not a million miles away. I am not too stressed just need to keep it on two wheels tomorrow.”
