DONINGTON BSB: WALKER PEAKING AFTER PODIUM

Motorpoint Yamaha's Chris Walker reckons he is peaking after taking his first British Superbike podium in almost two years at Donington Park yesterday.

The Stalker last stood on the BSB podium in 2007, again at Donington Park, when he was riding for the Rizla Suzuki team alongside Cal Crutchlow and although he wasn't expecting it, the Nottingham man is more than happy.

"To be honest, I thought a couple of top fives were where we were for the weekend and we were a bit lucky because Leon had his problems and Sylvain was injured but you have to be in it to win it, so I'm peaking, really happy," said Walker, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

"So far we have been still trying to find a good setup while everyone else is testing tyres so it was nice to be right up the sharp end at the very beginning. We tested at Mallory and the boys have worked so hard on the chassis and other things before this round.

"I don't know how we will go at Thruxton. It's not like I hate the place but I haven't ever got on very well there. It's a high-speed circuit and the first one we've been to so we will find out how we are on top end then!"
