Donington BSB: 'We have the package for top-three finishes' – Buchan

FS-3 Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan believes he has the package for regular top-three finishes in this year’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship which starts at Donington Park this weekend.

The Essex rider has picked himself up from a disappointing winter test at Monteblanco, makes some changes to his riding style and now feels ready to take on the likes of Josh Brookes for this year’s title.

“Leaving Spain at the start of the year I didn’t feel too good. Usually I do a lot of riding in the off-season but this time I did nothing and the first bike I got on was my Superbike at Monteblanco,” said Buchan.

“It’s 200bhp, 169kg and a real handful, and admittedly I didn’t feel very good. I’m quite strong mentally and can get over things quickly but I left there disappointed.

“I went away, did some homework, rode the roadbike a little bit and felt really comfortable at the Croft private test.

I’m enjoying riding the bike, I’ve adapted my style a little bit and I’m ready to race again. I feel like I need to progress further and better.

“I’ve changed by body positioning quite a lot. It’s something that Rossi said a couple of years ago that he had to change to suit the Yamaha, so I’ve adjusted and adapted to make this bike a little different.

“Through my career, in the motocross days or Superstock days, I’ve always naturally progressed and I want to be top three in the championship, we have the package to do it and we have a lot more experience with the bike.

“I am 27 now, I feel like I am getting older but with that comes experience and I fee like we should be up there regularly.”
