Returning British Superbike star Stuart Easton says he is sore after his first proper day back in the saddle but he feels positive about the day's performance at Cartagena and believes he can only get stronger as the days go on.
Easton was lucky to escape with his life after a Northwest 200 horror crash left him with serious injuries and months in hospital. He and the PBM Kawasaki team spent two days at Motorlanfd Aragon before travelling south but weather and track conditions meant Easton got in no serious track time.
"I'm pretty stiff and sore but positive. I'm still quite weak in my core areas and I'm not able to hang off the bike as much as I am used to but the laptimes that came today are a step in the right direction and I'm not too far away given it is only the first day and there's a lot of work left to do," said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"We've got days left here in Spain and then a few more in the UK and, in terms of fitness, I can only get stronger as time goes on. I was three seconds slower than Shane at the start this morning but that has come down. There is loads to do with the bike still but overall it's a very good start."
