Former 500GP and British Superbike star Sean Emmett has been forced to hang up his leathers for the rest of the season, and possibly for good, due to a lack of funds – but there is a chance he may get a ride at the Macau GP with an-as-yet unnamed team.
The Surrey man, who was running the Henderson R1 Cup series, withdrew from the Oulton Park meeting as he didn't have enough sponsorship to cover the costs and another potential sponsor has also fallen through.
"It's a shame really, as I was really enjoying doing the one-make series and having the odd Superbike ride here and there," said Emmett.
"But the team didn't have enough funds to continue for the season, so that looks like it's that for now."
Although disappointed, Emmett still thinks he may have a ride with a team for the Macau GP, but was staying tight-lipped as to who it was.
