Ryuichi Kiyonari’s Buildbase BMW team have ruled the Japanese star out of this weekend’s MCE British Superbike round at Assen after he crashed riding flat-track and suffered some kind of injury.
The squad are keeping what that injury is close to their chest but team boss Steve Hicken said they thad come to the conclusion it was best he didn’t ride in Holland and to be ready for Silverstone in two weeks.
“It’s a shame Kiyo won’t be with us this weekend, he rode exceptionally well here last year and he too made real progress at Oulton. However, it’s not worth him riding and risking further injury so we have decided it is best for him to stay at home and recover before coming back for the final two rounds,” said Hicken.
The team will field Richard Cooper and Lee Jackson at the Dutch track with Cooper in the hunt for this year’s Riders’ Cup trophy.
