Bennetts British Superbike title contender Glenn Irwin is intending to further peg back the points gap to series leader Leon Haslam at this weekend's Thruxton round.
The Be Wiser Ducati man finished in front of Haslam in both the Brands Hatch races last time out - and also gained back some ground in the podium credit race - and is targeting a similar gain in Hampshire.
“I was still carrying an injury for the meeting last year so returning to Thruxton 100 per cent fit since my first BSB podium in 2016 is something I’m really looking forward to," said the Carrickfergus rider.
"I’m looking to grab a brace of podiums at least this weekend to narrow the gap to the championship lead which is our ultimate goal. Thruxton should suit our bike so the plan is to get to the front and manage the tyres and if we can do that, we have a good chance of winning.”
