Team Repli-Cast UK Racing have been keeping a close eye on the highly talented and very determined 16 year old racer Ben MCConnachie from Matlock and when Ben agreed to ride for the Team they were very confident that with the right backing & set up this youngster will be a front runner in the highly competitive British series.
Ben started out well in Free Practise on Friday and a few changes were needed for him to gain faster Lap times & with perfect feedback from him the Team were confident that Qualifying would see his lap times drop and sure enough on his first meeting out on the Repli-Cast GP bike and only the 3rd time he had ever seen this very demanding Circuit Ben put in a blistering time of 1.02 which was five seconds faster than his previous best when he rode there the year before in the ACU Star Championships and only one second off pole position.
All theTeam were very proud of Bens efforts & confidence aboard the bike and following a sixth Row Start for the Race it was clear he was not happy to just sit and wait and he passed four riders into the first corner and was soon up to the back of the next group which again he picked off lap by lap.
Ben hung on to the back of of Neil Mackenzie's son Taylor and waited and watched for his weak spots and past him as he knew the leaders were pulling away, the two of them had a fantastic Race and swapped positions right to the wire and Ben gained his first ever points in the British Championships finishing a very creditable 15th position.
Gary Dawson Team Manager said: “We are so proud of how Ben handled himself both on & off the track and to gain his first points in the British championship on only his first meeting aboard the Repli-Cast bike just shows what a determined and gifted rider this youngster is.
“We will all work hard now to make sure we give Ben the bike he deserves and look forward to working with such a determined and Talented youngster following in his father's footsteps and onto European & World Status.”
