Worx Suzuki's Sylvain Guintoli looks likely to be out for the rest of this year's British Superbike Championship after the crash with Josh Brookes on the sighting lap of race one on Monday.
The French former MotoGP rider had his right tibia and fibula pinned and will have a skin graft today (Wednesday) in order to make sure the wound is closed and there can be no risk of infection.
"It looks very likely that Sylvain will be out for the rest of the season and even if he isn't the championship is over for us. If he is able to ride towards the end, we won't be pushing him to get back racing," said team boss Jack Valentine, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"Once he is fit, then we will start making plans for next year. It's a great shame and the accident was totally avoidable. We have got Michael on the bike for Thruxton and he has been on the podium there, so we will focus on that for the time being and then make a decision on the rest of the year."
