JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam finished the Guadix MCE British Superbike test at the top of the tree as conditions today were too cold to better times from yesterday and says there is more to come from his ZX-10R as more parts arrive.
The former WSBK man was four-tenths faster than Ryuichi Kiyonari yesterday and says he did his fastest lap on the Pirelli SC1 rear. The team will now go back to their workshop and carry out dyno work with the new fly-by-wire electronics in order to improve things further.
“The first day only a few of us went out but it was better than today. I think on day two I did 97 laps and Kiyo did 103 so we got a fair bit done on day two. The bike felt good over one lap and race distance and I think I was the only one who didn’t use an SC0 was positive too,” said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
“The fly-by-wire system is all setup now and there’s nothing more we can do on track. We need some time now on the dyno with the package and I think that is the next stage for us.
“We got through all the components we had to try and there are more to come. All of the data we have gathered point in the direction of the new tank, swingarm and things which is a step further towards the factory.
“We are waiting on a swingarm pivot too but we have tested with what we have and we know where it needs to be.”
