HM PLANT BOSS LOOKING FORWARD TO POSITIVE 2009 SEASON

HM Plant Honda's team boss Havier Beltran is looking forward to the upcoming British Superbike season even though his team has effectively halved in size over the winter.

Beltran's official Honda squad was forced to make some swingeing cuts over the closed season, which has seen both his Aussie riders down to one Fireblade each and the pit crew halved in number. But it something the outfit has done before.

"We ran Leon Camier with one bike in 2007 and Jonathan Rea only had one as well, and they didn't miss any races because of it," said Beltran. "I'm really positive going into this season because it's going to be very close and very interesting.

"The tests in Spain went well and we've got two top-class riders. Josh is fast and very technically minded and Glen is obviously no mug. He has just put together two championship-winning seasons back-to-back.

"Of course, there is the risk that a bike comes back to the garage in a couple of bits during qualifying, but we have contingencies to look after that and make sure we're at the sharp end right from Brands Hatch."
