Danny Buchan has called time on a decade-long association with Kawasaki and will move to pastures new for the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike season.
Buchan, who is now a dad of two, feels it is time to make a change after spending most of the last ten years riding a ZX-10RR but is at pains to point out there was no animosity when he made the call to FS-3 Kawasaki team boss Nigel Snook.
“I’m 27 now. I know Josh Brookes has just won his second championship at 37 but you look at your years being numbered,” said Buchan, speaking to bikesportnews.com this lunchtime.
“I thought that I have been with Kawasaki for so long now that it’s time for a change. I have been offered a good opportunity, so I have taken it.
“I’ve been honest with Nigel and we have parted ways, it’s fine. That;s not to say in a few years time there won’t be an option to go back, you never know. Racing is a funny old game.
“I spent a long time with Kawasaki, we’ve had a lot of success and FS-3 gave me the chance to ride a Superbike again. We made a Showdown, won some races, so it’s been good.”
Both Buchan and FS-3 are expected to reveal their plans in the coming weeks.
