‘In 2015 we go back to zero’ – Westmoreland

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s newest recruit James Westmoreland will use the up and coming MCE British Superbike season as a fresh start, after what has been a difficult year for the Northerner.

2014 was blighted by injury and he didn’t get the results that he wanted with his former Buildbase BMW team, but now he has jumped ship and landed in Mark Smith-Halverson’s garage alongside new team-mate James Ellison.

Westmoreland will be using the Kawasaki team to restart his career and is already looking forward to an extensive testing programme which starts in March. He is feeling refreshed and rearing to go and wants to put all the negatively from last year behind him.

“I am so happy - what a great opportunity I have been given as 2014 was so difficult. It makes it so much sweeter to come from such a disappointing season to be in a place that we are going to go racing quite differently,” said Westmoreland, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“2015 we go back to zero and start again, I have got to do things differently and Mark was the first person I spoke to and to be sat on his bike is just so exciting. I can’t wait to go testing, and that will be at the start of March. I feel really refreshed and I needed this opportunity to re-start my career.

“I love the way this team go racing and I know the dates I need to go testing already which is great. The team is a bit under the radar at the moment and James Ellison had such a great start  last year, and we need to work hard and we believe we can fight.”
