For the seventh time this season, Glenn Irwin is a British Superbike (BSB) race winner.

Glenn Irwin was back on the top step of the podium at Oulton Park in mixed conditions in Race Two. The Hager PBM Ducati rider has not been on top of a podium since Snetterton in July.

After finishing second on Saturday in the dry the Championship challenger was desperate to claw back more points. Irwin is now only 31 points behind Tommy Bridewell at the top of the standings, 29 points less than what it was on Friday.

On Sunday morning when Irwin heard the rain falling on his motorhome, the Northern Irishman knew he had a good opportunity to get back into Championship contention.

After the race, Irwin said: "When we woke up this morning I could hear the rain on the roof of the motorhome. It is no secret that we have struggled in the wet in recent years but you can't have any limiting beliefs when you want to go on and win a Championship. So, you have to channel any resilience, determination and mindset to overcome any weakness. We saw it as an opportunity and that is what it was, I didn't quite foresee how the race was going to go! I never expected to be pulling over for a drink after Shell when Christian went down, I am glad he was ok."

"I felt good when he (Christian Iddon) took the lead and I thought we can sit here. But after he went down I had some work to do, I passed Kyle immediately so that was good for the Championship. I then looked forward and I think Tommy (Bridewell) was in second and we just got to work."

Irwin beat Leon Haslam in a tight scrap in Race Two as he passed the former British Superbike Champion on the last lap to claim his seventh race win of the season.
