'It was the first time I felt like the bike was mine' – Iddon

VisionTrack Ducati's Christian Iddon has finally found what he was looking for with the Panigale V4R and heads into the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike season with a bike that feels like his own.

Iddon and team-mate Josh Brookes have completed tests at Croft and Knockhill which will give them some advantage over the pack when the lights finally go out at Donington Park next month, and Iddon is happy to have had time in wet and dry conditions.

“We got back on the bike at Croft a week ago and actually it was really good, it was the first time I felt like the bike was mine. The tests we had in Spain were ok, but it was that long ago now it feels like it almost didn’t happen," said Iddon.

“I enjoyed Croft; it was a no pressure situation and I took it as a day to get back into riding. Then we had two days up at Knockhill and on the first day we were hindered a bit by the weather, but it was good to get a run out on the Ducati in the rain at a test rather than at an event.

“On the second day we had really good weather and had a lot of running – the two of us were just flat out and just carried on pounding out the laps, I think I did just shy of 200!

I felt really good physically, so that was a bonus as bike fit is completely different to just being fit. I could have just ridden all day long really.

“I worked my way through a lot of things and the track improved throughout the day. We still have the official test coming up and that is the first time I will get to judge myself against the opposition on a track that we are racing at, so I am excited to see how the Ducati feels there.

"I have started the feel the differences that the changes were making, and getting towards the sensation that I’m looking for.

“We all know very well what that bike is capable of so I am still not wanting to go too far away from what they have had and I am now just looking forward to the next time we can be on track.”
