'It wasn’t my choice to stay in Superstock last year... I wanted to be in Superbikes' - Davey Todd

Isle of Man TT

Davey Todd has discussed being overlooked for a 2024 British Superbike ride.

Davey Todd has once again shared that he did not want to remain in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship in 2024.

Despite winning the 2024 Superstock title, Todd has reiterated that he wanted to race in British Superbikes last season. However, he was overlooked by TAS Racing in favour of Rory Skinner.

Even though he was not in British Superbikes, Todd still had an incredible 2024 season. As well as winning his second Superstock crown, he won two races at the Isle of Man TT, including the Senior TT.

For the 2025 season Todd will ride in the British Superbike Championship with 8TEN Racing after leaving FHO Racing.

8TEN Racing was founded by Todd and his new teammate, Peter Hickman, and the team will also receive BMW backing.

“It’s been a change-up, I guess not so much last minute because it was sort of worked out a while back,” Todd told the Belfast Newsletter.

“But it’s something really exciting that’s happened with racing under a new banner with 8TEN Racing, myself and Hickman.

“We’re supported by BMW so we’re still on the M1000RR, the 2025 model that’s just been built, and I’m back on the Padgett’s 600 as well – two things I’m really excited about.

“Not saying too much, it wasn’t a choice of my own to stay in Superstock last year and I wanted to be in Superbike.

“So now I’ve got the opportunity to be in the Superbike class and I want to do a good job there as well.”
