Ryan Vickers says he is able to enjoy his racing once again after bringing a successful race-winning 2023 British Superbike Championship [BSB] season to a close.
Still only 24-years old, Vickers entered into his fifth season of BSB after switching from FHO Racing to defending champions LAMI OMG Racing over the winter, presenting him a golden opportunity to come good on promise many felt had remained unfulfilled in the four seasons prior.
While injury hampered his efforts initially, Vickers’ gathered momentum as the season progressed, leading to the first podiums of his BSB career before going on to notch up two wins in the wet at Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
Ending the year with six podiums in all and eighth overall in the standings, Vickers - who will remain with OMG Racing for the 2024 BSB season - says the success is ‘more than he could have dreamed of’
“Thanks so much to absolutely everyone that makes this possible,” he wrote on Facebook. “Thanks for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity!
“We have achieved so much this year in such a short space of time. To come away with six podiums and two wins is more than I could have dreamed of! But most of all you’ve put a smile back on my face when racing and I have loved every second…
Thanks to all my personal sponsors that have stuck with me I’m so happy that it has paid off and I can finally give back what we all knew was possible
“Thanks to all the fans, your support has been incredible I cannot wait to bring you guys many more exciting races.”
