In addition to clinching second overall in the 2008 Daily Star Cup championship Martin Jessopp of Riders Racing won the ‘Airwaves® Kick Up a Gear® Award’.
The award formed by Airwaves debuted this season, in which points are given to the rider who from their qualifying position gain the most places in each race throughout the seasons 12 rounds.
Jessopp was presented with a cheque for £4000 from Wrigley’s Airwaves® from Toby Baker, Wrigley Marketing Director as the season drew to a close. Toby Baker said: “Martin Jessopp’s performance throughout the season has been absolutely outstanding and he’s a thoroughly deserving winner of the ‘Airwaves® Kick Up A Gear® Award’.”

The Yeovil rider has raced in motocross, on a 125cc at club level, the Virgin R6 Cup, Senior Superstock and Supersport series before moving into the Daily Star Cup category this season. After racing four years on a Ducati Jessopp also changed to a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade for his Superbike challenge, ending with success.
