KNOCKHILL BSB: BYRNE A LITTLE SHAKEY AFTER CRASH

Airwaves Ducati's Shane Byrne was left only shaken after a massive crash in the second British Superbike race at Knockhill this afternoon.

The runaway championship leader was being steadily caught by eventual race two winner Leon Haslam and as he came to brake for the first corner, he just lost the front and flew into the airfence.

"I was feeling really comfortable on the Airwaves Ducati but saw from my pit board that the gap to the guys behind was up and down all the time," said Byrne.

"I came into turn one and as soon as I touched the brake I was down. It was a really strange crash because everything felt normal right up until that point. I’m feeling sore but I’ll be back training in a couple of days preparing for Cadwell Park.”

Byrne was taken to the circuit medical centre but released quickly after a check-up. Despite the DNF, he is still 110 points ahead in the champsionship table.
