KNOCKHILL BSB: HAMILTON TAKES HIS SECOND WIN

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Jamie Hamilton takes his second win and fifth podium of the season in race two at Knockhill in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 championship, this time holding off race one winner Joe Burns of Splitlath Motorsport.
It was Burns that led into the first corner, but it wasn’t long before Hamilton showed he meant business and took the lead.  In a close third was Luke Mossey of Sabre Sport.  As these settled into a rhythm the main battle was going on behind between Jesse Trayler of MSS Colchester Kawasaki, Luke Jones of MAP Raceways Yamaha,  and Matt Bilton of HB Motorcycles racing.
The first major change in the order was when Mossey who temporarily took the lead on lap eight low sided out of the race at the Real Radio Hairpin escalating the riders up a position.
Jones and Trayler swapped position numerous times with Bilton hot on their heals.  Not backing off as the race continued Trayler ran off at the first turn Seat Curve at high speed, amazingly stayed on as he plummeted down through the gravel to rejoin the track at the bottom of the hill, safely slipping into fifth place.
Meanwhile Jones and Bilton were able to pull away making the leading duo become a pack of four.  As per usual the pressure was on as they hit backmarkers on the penultimate lap, but all looked well for the riders until the last corner on the final lap.
As a back marker safely moved out of the way, it looked like the first four across the line had been decided until Jones lost the rear as he powered out of the Real Radio Hairpin sending him across into the gravel giving third place to Bilton.
Race one non finisher Luke Stapleford of Buildbase Bournmouth Kawasaki finished in a more successful, but lonely fifth place, followed by Patrick McDougall who improved on his previous race result to take sixth.
Team HARIBO Starmix’s Jack Groves took another ninth place from 16th on the grid, while his teammate improved by five places to finish 17th in the last race of the day.
After the unpredictable double round this weekend Hamilton has increased his championship lead to ten points, Burns has jumped from fourth in the standings to second pushing Jones down to third.
