KRP/Earnshaws Motorcycles took a rare unchallenged win which is giving him the championship lead at Knockhill this weekend in the Relentless British 125GP crossing the finish line three seconds ahead of second place.
It was all hectic before the lights changed, with Lee Costello of Vent-Axia/www.sp125racing.com running into the gravel on one of the warm up laps which had to be cleaned up by the marshalls as all riders positioned themselves on the grid.
As the pitlane is too short to allow ride through a 20 second penalty was given to two riders who jumped the start, Tim Hastings of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing who finished 11th overall and Adam Blacklock of Repli-Cast UK who crossed the line in 18th.
It was Lodge who led into the first corner followed by teammate Martin Glossop of KRP/Bradley Smith Racing and Connor Behan of SP125/Express Forklifts. Glossop on lap four run into the Real Radio Hairpin a bit hot and to stop him running into the back of Lodge he grabbed the brakes and low sided out of second place.
Glossop rejoined down in 14th and in true champion style fought back to finish an impressive fifth place, in the 20 lap race, but unfortunately Glossop for the first time this season is not the championship leader.
Rob Guiver of SP125/RG Racing continued his impressive weekend to take second place making the most of his front row start for today’s race, his second podium of the year. Behan rounded off the podium for the main championship losing only one place from his qualifying position.
Deane Brown of Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing performed strong throughout the race battling and holding off Brian Clark of Banks Racing/Express Racewear and towards the end of the race Glossop, but it all fell through on the last corner of the final lap, as he left too much room on the exit. Glossop dived up the inside to get ahead and due Brown losing the drive out of the corner so did Clark.
Seventh overall was a strong result for Brown in addition to taking the win in the cup series ahead of Taylor Mackenzie who also had a great race after running in seventh at one point to finish ninth whilst penalised Hastings finished in 11th still taking the final podium step.
Michael Hill of Taboo Motorsport finished in 14th whilst teammate Tom Weeden of Taboo Motorsport Junior Team was wiped out by Ross Walker of Ross Walker Racing low siding into him.
