HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards will undergo surgery this afternoon to pin the left femur he broke in a crash in the British Superbike qualifying session yesterday.
The laidback Aussie was heading into the hairpin when he came off and Relentless Suzuki's Ian Lowry was also brought down as the young Irishman couldn't do anything to avoid Richards' stricken Fireblade.
"Glen has broken his left femur but it is a very clean break as far as femur's go," said team boss Havier Beltran, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"I was with him last night and he was comfortable. He is due to have surgery this afternoon to pin the bone and we will then talk to the doctors to see how long his recovery will take."
