KNOCKHILL BSB: WOOD DOES THE DOUBLE

KTM UK’s David Woods took his second win of the weekend and moves to the top of the championship standings at the sixth round at Knockhill in Scotland this weekend in the KTM RC8 Super Cup.
The first four finishers replicated the results from race one.  Wood and his teammate Christian Iddon took the top two podium steps, which also replicated their qualifying positions.  The remaining two front row starters Dave Heal of Littlewood Fencing/D Heal Racing and Pauli Pekkanen of Inmoto Corse swapped qualifying positions with Heal finishes ahead in both races.
Even though Wood and Iddon pulled away from the pack, Iddon wasn’t able to make any attack on him until the final lap when he went up the inside on the entry of the John R Weir chicane, but was unable to pull it around to keep the ahead therefore Wood kept it tight to regain the lead.  Iddon luckily kept the bike on track and avoided the back of a back marker before continuing to take second.
Further down the track another battle was happening between Francis Williamson of SJ Racing/Bracken Motorcycles and James Edmeades of Redline Motorcycles/VCG for seventh place.  It was Edmeades who succeeded before crashing out on the final lap who was amazingly avoided by other riders as he sat in the middle of the track.
Jonathan Railton of Ducks X Racing took his second win in the cup category this weekend, Sam Bishop had a more successful ride to take second following his DNF is yesterday’s race, this pushed race one second place rider Adam Foster of Fozzy Racing down to third today, but still picking up another trophy.
Due to the double points round there is now new championsip leaders in both KTM series.  Woods season is back on track and is now leading the championship by one point ahead of joint second place riders Kelvin Reillly of Inmoto Corse, who crashed in race one and Pauli Pekkanen also of Inmoto Corse.  Williamson sits in third.
In the cup championsip Railton takes the lead from Bishop who also crashed in race one yesterday, but he keeps second ahead of Foster.
