Linfoot teams with Mainwaring Smart at Quattro Kawasaki

Former 125GP star Dan Linfoot will team up with Howie Mainwaring Smart in the Quattro Kawasaki team for an assault on the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship.

The Yorkshire toasting fork put pen to paper with team boss Pete Extance yesterday after exploring a couple of other options in the paddock, but says it is clear the Kawasaki is the bike to be on next season.

"Having raced against the Kawasaki all last year, it is pretty obvious it is a strong bike and I think that with all the right pieces in place, we can challenge for a Showdown spot next season," said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the depths of James Westmoreland this lunchtime.

"I am really looking forward to racing a Kawasaki Superbike for the first time. I will have Ray Stringer as my crew chief and he has all the experience you could ever need, so we should be a strong squad with Howie on the other side of the garage in 2014."

Mainwaring Smart has a long association with Kawasaki and team boss Extance says he is expecting regular top ten finishes from the Kent man. Quattro have also retained their manufacturer support for 2014.

"I am really looking forward to 2014 and I am definitely expecting us as a team to have a strong season and it is also great to have a team-mate like Dan as we can push each other all year. My plan was always to stay with Kawasaki and I know that we can run in the top ten so now it is time to move forward and try to aim for the top five. We are capable of achieving that and I believe we are in with a good shout next year," said the boy-band-a-like.
