Node4 Yamaha's Dan Linfoot will make the step-up to British Superbikes at Silverstone following a successful test at the Northamptonshire track on Wednesday where he ran with Worx Suzuki's Sylvain Guintoli on a track day.
The cheeky Yorkshire youngster says he managed to stay with the former MotoGP man for about five laps before getting dropped but added he felt very comfortable on the Superbike towards the end of the day.
"It's a big step but after a few sessions, I really got to grips with the bike and started to figure out how to ride it. I even managed to stay with Guintoli for about five laps," said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning, while being spoonfed some Calpol by his mum who was making aircraft noises.
"To be honest I want to learn the bike over the weekend and try and finish as close to Graeme (Gowland) and Chris (Walker) as I can. I am looking forward to giving (Tommy) Bridewell a hard time though.
"By the end of the season I will know whether I am more suited to a Superbike or a Supersport bike, which is no bad thing. I think, though, I will be leaving my aggression sandwiches at home, or at least till I have got past Bridewell."
