Lowes fires warning shot with fast race run at BSB test

Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes fired a warning shot at yesterday's Snetterton MCE British Superbike test, completing a 16-lap race run on old tyres and not dropping outside the 1'49s bracket even with traffic.

The youngster, who only made slight adjustments to fork internals and gearing alterations, set his quickest lap of the day, a 1'49.100, in the early part of the run and then stayed consistent.

"It was a good test. I've been ok for speed over one lap so we worked on older tyres and did a 16-lap race simulation. I got a bit of traffic but I was still able to do mid 1'49s with a 1'49.3 near the end which I am happy with and if we can do that here in the race, it will be good," said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Snetterton.

"I hardly changed the bike at all, just a change to the forks for a little more feel and we changed the gearing a couple of times because I was hitting the limiter in places, so we need to try and get half a tooth somewhere but other than that, pretty happy."
