Battle lines are drawn and the stage is set for a showdown as brothers Taylor and Taz Mackenzie go head to head in Bennetts British Superbikes this year.
In the red corner, weighing in at 64kg is Taylor, the oldest - although not necessarily the wisest – of the duo, riding out of the Moto Rapido Ducati garage.
And in the blue corner, not eight stone dripping wet, is Taz.
Lining up for his first BSB season aboard the McAMS Yamaha, Taz is expected to come out fighting like a yapping miniature Yorkshire terrier.
“Who’s going to win out of the two of us? Well me, obviously,” said Taylor. “We’re best mates though so it’s going to be fun for us and stressful for our parents.
“Everyone else seems to be making more of a big deal of it than we are. As long as he stays behind me, we’ll be fine.”
And while Taz is happy to play the game when it comes to fighting talk, he’s ruled out any chance of a pitlane punch-up.
“We’re having fun with it, it’s all good for a joke but I think a lot of people think we’re taking it seriously, but we’re not really.
“If he beats me in every single race this year I genuinely won’t be bothered. He’s my brother at the end of the day.
“We’re genuinely not concentrating on beating each other, we’re both concentrating on ourselves and beating the others.”
Sounds like the brothers are saving the fisticuffs for behind closed doors…
