MALLORY BSB: ANDREWS GUTTED AFTER BEING ROBBED OF WIN

MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews has said he is gutted after being robbed of his first British Superbike win at Mallory Park today when Josh Brookes torpeo'd him out of the lead.

Andrews was leading a battle for the lead with Motorpoint Yamaha's Chris Walker when Brookes, who has been banned for two meetings, outbraked himself at the hairpin, skittling Andrews and bringing down the top six riders. At one point, Andrews was 1.7s clear of the field.

"I'm gutted to be honest and still a bit lost for words. I don't blame Brooksey as it was a racing crash but that was mine and the team's first podium gone and possibly a race win," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"I knew we had the pace yesterday after qualifying and I got a second-row position without having to push really hard. Even with my injured wrist, I was comfortable doing the lap times in race one and we were definitely in a podium spot.

"I will put it behind me as I have to drive to Brussels now and get my scaphoid bone pinned. Hopefully, I will be in a lot better shape for Brands and can give the team the podium they deserve for all their hard work."
