MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews will drive to Belgium on Sunday night to undergo surgery on his broken scaphoid bone in the hope it will heal before the next British Superbike round at Brands Hatch.
Andrews broke the bone during a testing spill at Snetterton and it was only an X-ray at Knockhill that uncovered the reason behind constant pain in his hand.
"I need to get this sorted out in double quick time and the St Elizabeth Hospital in Brussels is the only place that has been recommended to me that can do in time," said Andrews, talking to bikesportnews.com this evening while stuffing his face with garlic bread.
"They will have to pin the bone and re-direct a vein towards it in order tp get some blood to flow around it in order to speed up the healing process as that's the problem with the scaphoid. I have to thank Ryan Thorpe for sorting it out for me."
