MALLORY BSB: HILL MAINTAINS LEAD INTO QUALIFYING

Worx Suzuki's Tommy Hill has maintained his stranglehold at the top of the British Superbike timesheet at Mallory Park, setting the fastest lap of the weekend so far in final practice this morning.

Hill put in a 56.251s circuit with 20 minutes left in the session which was good enough to keep Superbike Cup sensation Richard Cooper in second and fan favourite Chris Walker in third.

Co-ordit Yamaha's Cooper is only a quarter of a second behind Hill and it was another disastrous session for Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier who only completed eight laps and finished in 17th place.

Camier is using his number one bike which blew up yesterday afternoon but is still suffering problems.

Yesterday's second quickest man Karl Harris on the Hydrex Honda set the fourth fastest lap with MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews blitzing into fifth on his final run of laps.

HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes is sixth with John Laverty on the Buildbase Kawasaki seventh, just half a second off Hill's pace. Camier's team-mate James Ellison was dropped from third to eighth in the dying seconds, just ahead of Gary Mason and Graeme Gowland.

SMT Honda's replacement rider Michael Rutter is in 14th place but only 0.693s in arrears while Ian Lowry is in 21st place, just behind his team-mate Atsushi Watanabe.
