McConnell, Rispoli pleased with Calafat Yamaha test

Anvil TAG Yamaha duo Billy McConnell and James Rispoli got their first taste of the full race-spec R1s they will race in this year’s MCE British Superbike series during a test at Calafat in Spain

The pair, along with third rider Shaun Winfield, started work on new their K-Tech suspension setup while also working on the electronics of their respective racebikes.

“It’s been a great two days at Calafat, it’s been awesome. We did lots of laps and burnt some rubber, we did a lot of work, and I’m feeling pretty confident heading into the Silverstone test. We’ve done some miles and we need to do some more but I’m finally getting used to the superbike now, and I think we have a really good base setting heading into Silverstone, and that test will tell us a lot as to where we stand but for us we seem to be ok,” said Rispoli.

McConnell added: “We’ve had two days on track and things have gone well, we’ve been hindered with the wind but we’ve managed to try a few things. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather to get really stuck into the simulations that we wanted to try but the bike feels really good, and we still have upgrades to come.

“The bike is smooth and really gets stuck into the corners which I’m finding really good. We’re looking forward to Silverstone now where we can carry on our work, and fingers crossed we’ll keep progressing.”
