Milwaukee Yamaha’s MCE British Superbike contenders Josh Brookes and Broc Parkes have completed their first shakedown of the new YZF-R1 at Alcarras with team boss Mick Shanley saying the surface hasn’t even been scratched.
Both the Aussie riders were happy with their first day’s work on the brand new bikes and Shanley said that today they would begin to work on changes to the bikes.
“It has been a really positive start for the team here in Spain with both Josh and Broc having their first experience of the new race bike. Today was the next stage of our programme after a lot of hard work from the team over the winter,” said Shanley.
“The opening day has been about getting some laps under our belt and I am happy with this first shakedown - it has all gone smoothly and the Milwaukee Yamahas have not missed a beat. We can already see that the bike has huge potential and we haven’t even scratched the surface yet.”
The test is being held privately along with other non-MotoGP Yamaha teams.
