MCE British Superbike series leader Josh Brookes will benefit from more development parts at this weekend’s Oulton Park round with a new exhaust, sump and triple-clamps all in the truck ready for evaluation.
Brookes goes into the Cheshire meeting off the back of six straight wins and leads the championship by 39 points as well as having a four-point advantage in the podium credit hunt over Shane Byrne.
The Milwaukee Yamaha was still very early in its development at the first Oulton meeting in May but was still good enough for two podium spots. Develoment over the intervening period has seen the R1 come on leaps and bounds and that, coupled with new bits and confidence running at an all-time high, should put Brookes firmly in the driving seat.
“Even at the first Oulton meeting, we were able to get on the podium and the bike is so much better now than it was then,” said Milwaukee team boss Mick Shanley, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
“We have got different triple-clamps to try this weekend to see if we can get some more front feel for Josh, and there is also a new exhaust from Akrapovic and a deeper sump to evaluate as well.
“We’re hoping for a couple more horsepower across the range with the exhaust and maybe a little more with the sump as it should make improvements like decreasing crankcase pressure.”
