Moto Rapido Ducati boss Steve Moore is considering introducing a Honda to his garage for the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship in the shape of a junior team.
The Hampshire dealer wants to encourage young talent at the grass roots end of the paddock and believes that the standard Moto3 class is the place - but isn’t able to do it with Ducati.
“I firmly believe that we have to encourage youngsters into the sport but parking a teenager on a full-blown Superbike probably isn’t the best way to do it,” Moore told bikesportnews.com last night.
“I’ve kept an eye on some of Spalding’s Babies in the standard Moto3 class and there is some real talent which should be nurtured before being packed off to face the wolves in Spain.
“Obviously, I wouldn’t be able to do that with Ducati as they don’t make those bikes and it is a one-make class anyway, so I am looking into either running one of the bikes myself or helping a rider or two in their first years.”
