'Never count out anyone in this championship' - Brookes

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes is going about his MCE British Superbike business the usual way at Silverstone this weekend and isn't getting caught up in any hype or hyperbole, save for saying that no-one should be counted of the championship with five races left to run.

The Aussie is going to take a back-to-basics approach to this weekend's double header and not look for any magic bullets, just work through the practice sessions to find a setup and good race pace and get back to winning ways.

"There has been a lot stuff on social media and other places about the fact it's only a two-horse race now but you should never count anyone out in this championship, it only takes one small thing to change the whole outlook, as we saw at Assen," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.

"I'm not going to change the way I approach things for this weekend, or Brands Hatch for that matter. We have won races this year so we need to go back to basics, put the practice work in and see if it comes good for us.

"The team is good, the bike is good and I am good enough to win but I'm not going to be looking for any edge or magic bullet as relying on that sort of stuff usually works against you. We need to get there, get into a rhythm and go through what we need to achieve our results.

"We will more than likely try to add a little more corner-exit grip if we can. The top speed of the bike is good, it's just that initial punch to carry the speed along the straights at Silverstone we might need to stay with the Honda and Kawasaki."
