Oulton BSB: A ‘testing’ day for Ellison

Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison is now ‘comfortable’ on his bike after conducting some ‘top secret’ tests in the early morning MCE British Superbike free practice session at Oulton Park.

His team tried out something new, but it failed to pay off after the Kendal lad could only muster eighteenth fastest in the opening practice. Ellison is glad that he had chance to test some new settings, but reverted back to the bike setup that he had in previous rounds. This clearly worked for him, as he set a lap time of 1’36.690 placing him third fastest in the timesheets.

Ellison is now looking forward to the three main races this weekend, and will be aiming for a good finish, to take home some valuable points.

“In the first session we wanted to try something with the bike which was completely off the chart and we chose the first session and we saw it as a test. What we tried didn’t work but it was good to get the information and we know we don’t have to try it again for the rest of the weekend. It is top secret and it was literally just a test, which we have got out of the way,” said Ellison, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“But the bike is feeling good as I went pretty fast. I am comfortable now on the bike so I think we will be at the sharp end and I am now looking forward to three races this weekend.”
