Oulton BSB: Bridewell fastest in FP3

Tommy Bridewell set the pace in the final British Superbike Championship free practice session at Oulton Park on Sunday afternoon, the Oxford Products Ducati rider finishing a healthy 0.476s ahead of Kyle Ryde (Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha). Rory Skinner (FS-3 Racing Kawasaki) was a further 0.028s behind in third.

The lunchtime start meant the damp patches from the overnight rain had evaporated enough for the riders to get close to the lap times from Saturday and it was Leon Haslam (VisionTrack Kawasaki) who set the early pace from Christian Iddon (Buildbase Suzuki) and Josh Brookes (MCE Ducati).

Next time around Iddon moved to the top of the leaderboard with Ryde and teammate Bradley Ray up into second and third respectively and it was the latter, quickest on Saturday, who was the first to dip into the 1’34’s.

Ryde and Skinner bumped him back to third with Haslam and Bridewell in fourth and fifth but with less than five minutes to go, Bridewell went quickest with a lap of 1’34.089s.

Second to fourth remained the same but in the closing minutes, Lee Jackson jumped up to fifth on the second FS-3 Racing Kawasaki with Brookes bettering his Saturday time by more than a half second to go sixth fastest.

Haslam, Jason O’Halloran, Iddon and Andrew Irwin (Synetiq BMW) completed the top ten with championship leader Glenn Irwin (Honda Racing) one place further back in 11th. Tom Sykes (MCE Ducati) ended the short 15-minute session in 19th.
