MCE British Superbike young gun Danny Buchan finally realised his potential at Oulton with two podium finishes from the three races, carrying on the pace he had shown at Cadwell Park but this time grabbing a brace of trophies.
Buchan and his Be Wiser Kawasaki squad, who have dispenses with the services of former champion Tommy Hill, have been knocking on the rostrum door but mechanical problems and some over-exuberance from Buchan have meant he just hasn’t been able to string it all together.
But in the Essex Doris magnet rode well in the practice and qualifying sessions and started the first race of the weekend on Saturday from the second row. He got a good launch and was locked in a good battle with James Ellison to take third and his first BSB podium.
For race two Buchan started from fourth again and held his position after the opening lap. From the start he was scrapping for a podium position with Dan Linfoot, Luke Mossey and Ellison. Dropping back to sixth place, Buchan soon settled into a rhythm and could see his second podium of the weekend. On lap nine Danny was up to third place and was able to bridge a gap between himself and Linfoot, with only a few laps to go Shane Byrne broke down, which allowed Danny to move up to second.
"I'm over the moon with my results this weekend. Everyone has worked really hard to help me to achieve these results this weekend and it's been a tough year with some problems along the way,” said Buchan.
“It's a huge relief to have secured not one but two podiums, it's such a fantastic feeling and to see all the hard work from everyone has paid off is just brilliant. We have all worked so hard to get to this point and the Be Wiser Kawasaki team have been perfect and I've been able to finally repay them for everything they have been doing for me.”
