Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne has made it on to the front row for the first MCE British Championship race at Oulton Park tomorrow. The current champ set the second fastest lap time in the qualifying sessions, but was unable to beat Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes to take pole position. But the rider is happy with his progress this weekend, and has enjoyed the battle with the young Derby rider.
"Alex is an incredibly fast rider and he has transformed from a rider who can do one fast lap, to one who can race really well, and that's why he is good fun to be around and good fun to race with. We are happy with the job that we have done with Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki and my lap time this year is much faster than last year, and we made a big step which is really positive, and I am really happy with my lap time and congratulations to Alex for his time," said Byrne, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
Byrne was not the only Rapid Solicitor’s Kawasaki machine to have made it on to the podium, team-mate Keith Farmer secured the fourth and final front row spot on the grid, and that was after some help from the triple champ.
"Keith has been struggling this weekend, we towed him around all three of the qualifying sessions and he is on the front row, which is great for the team. Hopefully it will be better for me because he can stick his elbows out a bit and give us a bit of breathing space, and we had a plan and it has worked so far, so fingers crossed for the rest of the weekend."
