Oulton BSB: Easton edges Seeley in first Supersport race

Mar-Train Yamaha's Stuart Easton held off his championship rival Alastair Seeley on the last lap to take his sixth Motorpoint British Supersport victory of the year.

Seeley's Gearlink team-mate, Ben Wilson, took the holeshot but he was unable to hold on to the lead as the Northern Irishmen stormed through on the second lap. Easton couldn't afford to allow Seeley to pull away and he reacted almost immediately, moving past Wilson himself a lap later.

The battling duo swapped places lap after lap, with Seeley getting the better of Easton on three consecutive occasions at the fast left hander of Island Bend.

However, Easton fought back with two laps to go and held on to lead as the pair entered the last lap. Easton moved to the inside of the track as they flicked left through Island, holding a defensive line, but Seeley look around the outside in an attempt to line up the following right hander but the wee Scotsman closed the door on Seeley, leaving the last corner as his last option.

Gearlink Kawasaki's Seeley stole a victory from Easton on the last lap at the lap corner earlier on in the year at Oulton Park but Easton wasn't willing to let the same happen again. The Mar-Train Yamaha benefited from Seeley having a rear-wheel slide at the penultimate corner, slowing his drive down to Lodge corner and as a result, Easton came through to take the victory by 0.076 of a second, closing the championship lead of Seeley down to 35 points.

Ben Wilson held on to take his tenth podium of the year, ahead of Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran and Smiths Triumph's Glen Richards. Appleyard Macadam's Graeme Gowland was able to make the grid after an earlier qualifying crash and came home in sixth, beating Richard Cooper and Scott Smart. Rounding out the top were Deane Brown and Taylor Mackenzie.
