Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison reckons he is going to push his new Ymaha R1 hard this weekend after saying he was riding conservatively at Brands Hatch to make sure he got some points for the team.
The former MotoGP man is fast around the Cheshire circuit, getting two podiums for the Hydrex Honda team there in 2008, and some improvements to his bike will mean he should be able to be at the pointy end.
"I love Oulton Park, I've had the best results of my career there so I can't wait to get out on track. I tied up the British Superbike Privateers Championship at Oulton Park is 2004 and then had two second place finishes last season, so I've got some good memories of the place and know what it takes to do well," said Ellison.
"With it being our first weekend on the new bike, I needed to race quite conservatively at Brands Hatch to make sure I finished both races and bought some championship points home for Airwaves Yamaha. Now we know what the YZF-R1 is capable of, plus the team has worked hard over the past couple of weeks to make improvements to the package, so I'm confident this weekend we can really push and be competitive from the start."
