Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne will return to this morning’s settings tomorrow after a ‘frustrating’ day one at Oulton Park.
Despite finishing fastest in the second Bennetts British Superbike free practice session, the defending champ was far from happy as he emerged from the garage at the Cheshire track tonight.
Byrne, who dominated most of the session after hitting the top of the timesheets early on, later found himself sitting on an identical time to his McAMS Yamaha rival, Josh Brookes.
But he managed to edge him out just before the session was red-flagged as he stuck in a 1’34.868s, putting him 0.115s clear of Brookes.
Yet it wasn’t enough for him to relax, and last night he indicated that things hadn’t worked as well as he’d expected them to.
“No, I’m not happy. That sounds bad I know but just been a really, really frustrating session.
“I think everything that could’ve potentially gone wrong, went wrong and clearly we’ve got a little bit of work to do, a few things we need to change.”
He now plans to go back to his earlier settings when he hits the track for FP3 tomorrow, in a bid to find a solution.
“We had a good rhythm this morning so we’ll go back to where we were and try and progress from there,” he added.
