Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison has revealed that a change of gearing to mirror that of his team-mate Leon Camier enabled him to get on the pace in the second British Superbike race at Oulton Park yesterday.
The former MotoGP rider, who stood on the podium at Oulton last year, struggled with corner exit drive in the first race but, after looking at the gearing of Camier's YZF-R1, was able to get closer to the top three in race two
"I struggled in race one, it was really difficult to get the drive I needed to make some passes. In between races we changed our gearing to the same as Leon and it made a huge difference. I'm disappointed to have missed out on a podium but I feel positive about the races ahead and I can't wait to get to Donington Park," said Ellison.
