Mar-Train Yamaha’s Jack Kennedy stormed to the British Supersport pole position this afternoon at Oulton Park and did so by setting the fastest ever 600cc lap around the Cheshire circuit at 1’37.830.
Championship leader Kennedy grabbed the pole position by all but half a second from Smiths of Gloucester rider Glen Richards, who couldn’t back up the string of strong lap-times he set in Friday’s Free Practice sessions. The Seton Yamaha of Sam Warren edged out the Smiths Triumph of Luke Mossey by just 0.058 of second to clinch third whilst the Gearlink Kawasaki of Ben Wilson heads the second row with Christian Iddon and Billy McConnell just a tenth of a second behind him in sixth and seventh.
Last year’s National Superstock 1000 Champion Richard Cooper jumped up to eight with just seconds remaining of the session pushing the quickest Cup competitor, Irishman Glenn Irwin, onto the thrid row. Finn Pauli Pekkanen is tenth for this afternoon’s Sprint Race with Luke Stapleford and Jimmy Hill rounding out the third row, 2.5 seconds behind the pole position time of Kennedy.
