Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey is in the MCE British Superbike Showdown, after a stunning second place finish in the final race at Oulton Park.
The Cambridgeshire rider has never made it into the top six before after just missing out last year, but his team and their hard work paid off at the Cheshire track today.
Mossey finished race one in seventh and race two in fifth. With the rostrum finish in race three it means that he was able to rack up forty points and goes into the next round at Donington sixth overall and on a new total of 506 points.
It was an emotional day as he became a father for the first time too, and is obviously feeling elated after out pacing fellow rivals Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty, JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Peter Hickman and Buildbase BMW’s Richard Cooper.
“I am speechless and I did get a bit tearful on the cool down lap. I had a baby this morning and got into the Showdown too and this is what I have been waiting for all year. I have no words to say and I am ecstatic,” said Mossey, speaking straight after the race.
“We have been chipping away and I have been working hard since I joined the team after last year and Ray Stringer and Johnny do a lot for me and everything is great. I am over the moon and a massive thanks to the team.”
