Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran will start the opening MCE British Superbike race at Oulton Park from the front row, after a 1’44.153 in qualifying was more than good enough to place his Fireblade third on the starting grid.
The Australian hailed his front row start as ‘important,’ as he said the track is a ‘difficult’ place to overtake, and it was key for him to get onto the first row to start off strongly in both races on Sunday.
O’Halloran did not complete that many laps in the final free practice session this morning as he experienced a technical problem with the Honda, but his team were able to rectify any issues and he made it through all three qualifying sessions.
“To be on the front row is important here at Oulton Park. It is a difficult place to pass on especially on the first few laps and it is important to have a good starting position tomorrow,” said O’Halloran, at the track.
“Big thanks to my team as yesterday was a tough day for us, and we missed most of the free practice session today with a small technical problem, and to end this afternoon on the front row is fantastic.
“So big credit to everyone who gave me a good bike this afternoon, and I felt really comfortable on that last stage of qualifying and I am looking forward to a good race.”
