Oulton BSB: Palmer takes dominant Superstock 1000 win

Rapido Sport Racing’s Tristan Palmer dominated from the very first lap of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race at Oulton Park, to take the race victory this afternoon.

Palmer had a solid start and was able to get the better of WD40’s Tommy Aquino and SMT Racing’s Adam Jenkinson to take the lead, and throughout the fourteen laps proved to be unstoppable and crossed the line for a comfortable win.

By lap five Palmer, Aquino, Jenkinson and four Anjels Racing David Johnson pushed away from the rest of the pack, and the battle for the podiums really began. American, Aquino fell back to fourth, but was able to pull his way to third. Homer Racing’s Hudson Kennaugh fell off the pace, and was not able to contend with the charge of the other four bikes. Johnson also experienced issues and dropped back to seventh, and was unable to battle for a top three finish.

But on the final lap  the battle for the win really started to heat up, especially for the second spot on the rostrum. Californian rider Aquino was in second but a big wobble on his bike at Druids was the opportunity that Jenkinson was looking for and the Knutsford rider was able to take advantage of the WD40 lad’s mistake to go second, with Aquino crossing the finishing line in third.

Jimmy Storrar Racing’s er, Jimmy Storrar crossed the line in fifth, followed by ILR’s Victor Cox. Four Anjels Racing’s Danny Johnson and Cox’s Swedish team-mate Filip Backlund rounded off the top ten.
