Oulton BSB: Ray opens big lead in first practice

Rich OMG Yamaha’s Brad Ray has continued his Bennetts British Superbike form from Silverstone this morning, opening a six-tenth gap over the pack at Oulton Park in free practice one.

The bespectacled youngster is already under lap record pace, laying down a 1’33.737 on his seventh effort of 11 to head Peter Hickman, by 0.592s.

Hickman has surged up a position into second place with his final lap of the opening session as Jason O'Halloran also moved up the order on his penultimate lap to end third fastest for McAMS Yamaha.

Lee Jackson was the leading Team Green contender in fourth position for the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team ahead of Tommy Bridewell who completed the top five on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati.

Danny Buchan was sixth fastest for the Syhetiq BMW team, setting a pace to put him just ahead of Honda Racing UK’s Glenn Irwin and Ryan Vickers on the FHO Racing BMW with Attis Sports.

Leon Haslam was just 0.001s adrift of Vickers to post the ninth fastest time for the VisionTrack Kawasaki team despite a small crash at Lodge during the session, whilst Andrew Irwin completed the top ten.
